Nicola Livingstone
Nicola has officially been a senior business analyst in a number of industries for the last 13 years, but being a BA is a mindset not a job, so has unofficially been one since a very young age. She is passionate about all things business analysis and loves spreading the word about how amazing BAs are. Outside of analysis she is navigating the dangerous world of puberty with her teenage son. Presentation: Embracing Imposter Syndrome
One of the area’s most BAs struggle with is imposter syndrome. At the start of any new piece of work it feels like an impossible task, like unravelling the Christmas lights every year. We all have the same thoughts ‘what if I fail? What if this is the project that shows I’ve been winging it all this time? I don’t know how I can do this!’. But what they need to understand is that imposter syndrome is the sign of a good BA. We create order out of chaos, but for that to happen we must start with chaos. The number of threads of analysis to follow may seem endless and it’s an impossible task, but by following process and methodology little by little we unravel those lights. Every. Single. Time.
