Presentation: BA Leadership for Beginners: Start, Change, Stop

Stepping into BA leadership isn’t about doing more analysis; it’s about doing different things. The skills that made you a strong analyst are the foundation, but they won’t carry you the whole way. This retrospective-style session looks back at the leadership transition through three lenses: what to start, what to change, and what to stop.

Drawing on real-world experience, we’ll explore the new skills and habits leaders need to build, such as influencing without authority and developing others. We’ll examine the practices that must be adjusted as your role shifts from delivering outcomes yourself to enabling them through a team. And we’ll call out the ingrained behaviours that quietly hold teams back, like being the hero or holding onto the detail.

You’ll leave able to (Learning Outcomes)

  • Identify the new skills and habits to build as a leader
  • Adapt existing practices for team-level impact
  • Recognise and stop behaviours that limit you and your team
