Damian has led some of the biggest Business Analysis Practices in some of the largest businesses. He has been a President of IIBA Australia and lead of Business Analysis at Australia Post. Damian was a founder of the FOBA conference so that he could have another reason to hang out with Business Analysts.
Presentation: Custodians of the Operating Model – The Conversation Continues
At the recent IIBA Leadership Summit in Sydney, a short session on business architecture for business analysts sparked more questions than time allowed — so we’re back to pick up on that thread. At this session we’ll show that business architecture isn’t a new discipline for BA’s, but the of the same decomposition, modelling and stakeholder synthesis you already do, just pointed at value streams and capabilities instead of requirements and processes. The key difference is, broadening the perspective from a project-oriented perspective to developing an enduring, holistic view of your company’s operating model.
We are three active practitioners and we’ll walk you through:
- a real government operating model built from the ground up,
- show you how to spot and pitch the opportunity in your own organisation (including where it intersects with the AI conversation everyone’s having but few can operationalise),
- and unpack what “custodianship” actually means (Spoiler: it’s about turning one-off analysis into something that outlasts the project it started on).
We’ll make sure that you walk out with practical recommendations that you can implement on Monday morning, not another framework to file away.
