Dr Terry Roach
Dr Terry Roach is Chair of the IIBA Global Board of Directors where he has served as a director since 2020. He is founder and CEO of PlausibleBA, a software platform leveraging business architecture for planning and governing, enterprise enablement of Agentic-AI. Previously, Terry founded and developed Capsifi, an innovative business architecture platform that was acquired by Orbus Software in 2024.
Terry is a passionate advocate, academic researcher and recognised thought leader in business modelling and AI governance. He holds an honorary research fellowship at the University of Technology in Sydney where he supervises PhD research in AI-enabled business modelling.
Adelaide Keynote: Enablers of the Agentic Enterprise – A new mandate for business analysis in the age of agentic enterprise automation
A major reset of white-collar roles in enterprise automation is in full swing. AI agents are automating the cognitive tasks that have defined knowledge work for decades, and the anxiety in the business analysis community is real and legitimate.
But anxiety is the wrong response. Business analysts and business architects occupy a position that no other practitioner community holds: we are the custodians of how enterprises actually work. We understand the requirements, the capabilities, the value streams, and the operating model beneath the organisational chart. We are the connection between strategy and delivery. We define what gets automated, how it gets scoped, and whether it succeeds.
That is not a role AI replaces, but a role AI requires.
This keynote sets the agenda for a new era of Business Analysis practice, one in which our community becomes the enablers of agentic enterprise automation rather than its casualities. It makes the case for the operating model as a living strategic asset, with value streams as the natural anchor for every business analysis deliverable, and for a new alliance between Business Analysis and Business Architecture as the governance layer that agentic systems cannot function without.
The question is not whether AI will transform your organisation. The question is whether our practice will lead that transformation.
