Presentation: Think Like A Skydiver

At 3,000 feet, a skydiver has approximately 15 seconds to identify a malfunction and execute emergency procedures. There is no time for analysis paralysis. The data is incomplete. The stakes are absolute. Business analysts face a similar paradox daily: stakeholders demand faster decisions, yet complexity grows and perfect data remains elusive. The traditional approach of gathering more information before deciding is breaking under modern time pressures. In this engaging session, Lison Mage draws from his skydiving training and research into decision making under pressure to reveal how elite performers make high quality decisions when time is short and data is incomplete. Attendees will discover the counterintuitive truth: that constraints can actually improve decision quality. Through vivid skydiving stories, neuroscience research, and practical business cases, participants will learn three powerful techniques that skydivers use and that business analysts can adopt immediately:

  1. Pre Decision Altitude: Setting decision thresholds before pressure hits

  2. The Emergency Procedures Mindset: Building decision muscle memory through deliberate practice

  3. Minimum Viable Information: Identifying the critical data points that actually drive outcomes Walk away with a personal Skydiver Decision Framework you can apply to your next high pressure analysis challenge.
