| Presentation: The Success Stories of the Accidental BAs- meandering journeys full of twists, lessons learnt and unexpected turns
My first professional life incarnation was a lawyer, followed up by international business consulting, tourism and hospitality, motherhood, fashion until accidentally landing in an IT BA role. Similarly, over the years I met many other BAs with diverse professional backgrounds. This presentation looks at the skills, knowledge and traits that such unorthodox BAs carry on from one professional life to another. By identifying the transferable “long life” skills, we will explore how to build up professional toolbox and match previous experience to future job needs – even when they are labelled very differently on the surface. In addition, the presentation will look at the skills and competencies that are expected to be in high demand in the future and subsequently which of our current talents will prepare us best for future competition. Finally, the presentation draws on the importance of core business analysis competencies and how they can benefit the business professionals beyond the classic BA roles and jobs.
