Workshop: The Art and Chaos of Unpacking a Business Challenge: Humans vs Machines Edition
Unpacking a business challenge is part creativity, part detective work, and part delightful chaos. In this interactive 30-minute workshop, we explore how humans and AI approach that chaos differently, and how Business Analysts can accelerate their practice by combining the strengths of both.
We begin with the human approach. Participants explore how a BA unpacks a business challenge using powerful questioning techniques and structured thinking. We dig beneath assumptions, uncover hidden rules, identify stakeholder needs, and guide conversations toward meaningful business and customer outcomes. We then introduce Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) as a way to bring clarity to analysis, showing how well-crafted scenarios create shared understanding and support better decision-making across teams.
Next, we invite AI onto the stage. Through a live demonstration, we compare how AI approaches the same business challenge, including the creation of BDD acceptance criteria. Participants experience the strengths, limitations, and occasional surprises of AI-generated analysis. We explore where AI can accelerate thinking, where human judgment remains essential, and how to effectively blend the two for stronger outcomes.
Finally, participants put the concepts into practice. Working in small groups, they unpack a business challenge both with and without AI, develop BDD scenarios, and compare their results. Through this hands-on experience, they discover where humans excel, where AI adds value, and how to create a practical, repeatable approach that leverages both.Attendees leave with greater confidence, practical techniques, and a clear understanding of how to use human expertise and AI capability together to accelerate business analysis in any environment.
