Peter helps complex organisations modernise their enterprise delivery.  Often this involves getting hands on with complex programs that have gone wrong and getting them back on track before scaling this across the enterprise.  Whilst he isn’t a BA, he does have a habit of hiring them.  As a program manager, he has seen so many opportunities where the BA asking the right questions could have saved the client years and millions of dollars.  Why aren’t more BAs doing this?

Presentation: Aligning to value by cutting through the complexity

There is so much white noise and pretentious language about how to be ‘better’ or ‘next generation’ or ‘2.0’ Business Analysis.  There is much digital ink being wasted talking about ‘how BA need to’ have the right ‘mindset’ / ‘leadership skills’ / ‘workshop facilitation structure’.  Or even around how BAs have a core role around documentation, backlog ordering and process mapping …. Let’s just not start on how wrong that is.

We are still fighting this methodology madness … and then along comes AI … now every BA needs to be an AI expert and how <insert tool> combined with <secret prompting method> can generate requirements in minutes and not days.

However I feel that all this ‘white noise’ is really just that .. White noise.  Often propagated by those seeking relevance in a shifting world.  However, the question remains is how does a Business Analyst align to value and cut through the complexity?

This presentation will challenge the distractions and cut through the complexity by focusing on the question that should ground every Business Analyst: How do we deliver meaningful value? Through stories and practical examples, we’ll explore techniques and approaches that help you stay forward-thinking, focus on what truly drives change, and inspire action in your organisations.

Rather than chasing every new trend or shiny tool, this session is about equipping you with ways to filter the noise, refocus on value, and confidently navigate complexity, so that you can make an impact where it matters most.
