TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM MANAGER | SUE GREGORY

Sue Gregory

I am a certified PMP® Project Manager with over 30 years of IT experience, specialising in Project and Program Management for the last 25 years. My career began at Telstra, followed by 18 years at IBM as a Senior Project Manager, and since 2016, I’ve been with SA Water.
At SA Water, I led the Digital Presence IT Program from 2020 to 2024, driving high-performing teams to deliver quality outcomes for Customer and Commercial units. My tenure is marked by the successful delivery of high-profile, time-critical projects, earning me a reputation as a passionate and respected leader.

In July 2024, as the Digital Presence program was ending, I took on the role as Program Manager for the SA Water Cyber Security Technology delivery program.

Previously, at IBM, I managed numerous projects, often turning around troubled ones to achieve excellent client satisfaction. With over 20 years of experience as a people manager, I excel in setting goals, managing performance, and mentoring new project managers.

My strong relationship-building, stakeholder management, and communication skills have enabled me to manage diverse projects across various industries, clients, and technologies. I am passionate about creating high-performing teams, embedding agile project delivery standards, and delivering value and business benefits.

Outside of work, I coach calisthenics, enjoy wine tasting, and love exploring places with historical architecture.

Presentation: Insights Into a Digital Transformation Journey

Co-presented with Chris Eaton

Successful digital transformation is more than just about technology—it’s about reimagining processes, challenging paradigms, and forging connections between people, data, and business outcomes.

As consultants for NRI, we have spent the past four years partnering with SA Water on their digital transformation journey. SA Water’s Digital Presence team led by Sue Gregory, embarked and delivered almost fifty projects from 2020 to 2024.  The team responded to needs of business units across the organisation, transforming business processes, implanting new technologies and drove measurable improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of existing tools. The team achieved this whilst grappling with a changing environment, including rising resource costs and the spectre of cyber security threats.

This presentation will share NRI consultant’s experience in multiple years of digital transformation, using SA Water Digital Transformation journey as a study.  We’ll explore:
•  Ways of working, structure and secrets to success.
•  Lessons learned from key projects, such as SA Water’s Optimising CRM initiative (enhancing MS Dynamics to streamline customer service) and the launch of the Connections Channel (empowering customer self-service and reducing internal workload for the customer care teams).
•  The tools and frameworks used to identify high-value opportunities and drive continuous improvement.

We’ll also discuss fostering a delivery culture, driving continuous improvement, and leveraging expertise from diverse capabilities; essential to achieving successful outcomes in an increasingly challenging environment. By embracing agility, cross-functional collaboration, and a commitment to innovation, Business Analysts can help shape sustainable transformation and long-term business resilience.
