The art of communication is more than just a diagram.
Communications is becoming increasingly harder, the 15 second news grab, Insta story, the fear of saying too much or not enough and the 24/7 news cycle have all impacted how we communicate. This flows on to how we work with our stakeholders in the workplace and when we are seeking to gather information.

In our haste to get technical and seek to map processes or seek answers, are we asking the right questions? or are we asking the questions right?

What assumptions are we making when we engage stakeholders? Do we know their problems, pains or processes. If not, what do we do? Don’t panic !

Using story telling is a great way to build rapport with stakeholders and to engage them when we are gathering information. Using soft skills we can build a story that reflects our stakeholder and play back scenarios that provide us with information, but also build our working relationship.

Storytelling is not easy, but with a few tips and tricks we can all use soft skills and the art of storytelling to enable us to work with our stakeholders to deliver better, stronger and enduring outcomes.
