Dr Cathal Doyle

Cathal Doyle is a senior lecturer in Information Systems at the School of Information Management, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. His research centres on the evolving role of AI, particularly Generative AI, in professional contexts, exploring how these technologies transcend mere tools to function as collaborative partners. His research extends to understanding AI systems that not only achieve instrumental outcomes but also encourage humanistic goals.

In addition to his research, Cathal teaches courses within the Master of Business Analysis program. His instructional focus includes “Business and Systems Analysis,” “Process Management and Design,” and mentoring students through their final business analysis projects in collaboration with organisations across New Zealand. And with over a decade of teaching experience, he has published extensively on the intersection of Information Technology and educational theory, striving to enhance student learning experiences through innovative approaches.
